Mhairi Boyle
Mhairi Boyle is a stitch-based textile designer, specializing in embroidery and working with natural and acid dyes. She produces luxury woven and embellished woolen fabrics for interior settings.
Mhairi’s collections are driven and inspired by exploring rural and urban landscapes within Scotland and Bahrain, where she has personal connections, allowing her to create culturally resonant fabrics with a passion.
The exploration of colours, texture and light is initiated through oil paintings of her surroundings, which are further developed to produce contemporary throws.
Currently working in collaboration with a Bahraini weaver, Mhairi is creating culturally hybrid interior fabrics, inspired by traditional architecture and Bahrain’s profound weaving heritage. Her ability to work with natural dyes ensures the achievement of neutral, earthen colour into the fibres in order to reflect her environment.
The use of locally produced Scottish wool within her collection allows for an integration of traditions and emphasizes the cross-cultural embodiment of the fabrics.
With Mhairi’s eye and thorough understanding of wool and cashmere, she is enabled to source and create collections of luxury modern interior fabrics.
